August 22, 2024

STAFFORD, Va. — An 18-year-old driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning on Poplar Road, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. The accident occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m. in the 600 block of Poplar Road when the vehicle, occupied by four individuals, struck a tree and rolled over several times.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered that the driver, identified as Landon Lynn of Stafford, had succumbed to his injuries. The other three occupants of the vehicle were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

A preliminary investigation conducted by the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office suggests that the vehicle was traveling northbound when the driver lost control and veered off the roadway. Speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in the accident.

“This crash is still under investigation,” the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. Deputy R.A. Weatherholtz is leading the investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the crash to contact Deputy Weatherholtz at 540-658-4450.

The Sheriff’s Office extended its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Lynn.
