Fatal Shooting on New Year’s Eve in Capitol Heights

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on December 31. The incident took place around 10:30 PM in the 1400 block of Dunbar Oaks Drive, in the unincorporated area of Capitol Heights.

The victim, identified as 36-year-old Nelson Bonilla-Reyes, a resident of Capitol Heights, was found outside with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities are seeking information that could lead to the arrest and indictment of the suspect(s) involved in this case. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for any information that leads to a resolution in this investigation. Detectives are currently working to establish a motive and identify potential suspects.
