WASHINGTON, DC — A Tuesday afternoon blaze in Northwest D.C. forced six residents out of their home as firefighters worked to contain the flames that spread to a neighboring property.

Crews responded to a box alarm in the 5400 block of 9th Street shortly after 1 p.m., finding a two-story home engulfed in flames. Thick smoke poured from the structure, as seen in videos shared by DC Fire and EMS on social media.

After approximately an hour, firefighters extinguished the visible flames but remained on-site to address lingering hot spots. Officials confirmed there were no injuries in the incident.

The American Red Cross has stepped in to assist the displaced residents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no further details have been released.
