OCEAN CITY, Md. — Emergency responders launched a large-scale search at Northside Park on Saturday night after personal belongings were discovered floating in a lagoon, but no individuals were found in the water.

The Ocean City Police and Fire Departments, along with Public Works staff, responded to the scene at approximately 8:09 p.m. on December 7. According to police, the items were retrieved from the lagoon, but it remains unclear how long they had been there.

Out of caution, authorities conducted an extensive search. Police performed a perimeter sweep while fire and EMS crews, aided by allied agencies, utilized advanced sonar and rescue divers to investigate the water. After a thorough search, officials confirmed that no one was in the lagoon.

The search briefly impacted a limited portion of Winterfest, with the attraction’s final 30 minutes of operation being gradually curtailed. Officials noted that the disruption was minimal and no missing person reports have been filed in connection with the incident.

Ocean City authorities have thanked the community for its cooperation and emphasized their commitment to public safety.
