Lakeside, FL – A Clay County elementary school teacher is under fire after a Facebook post surfaced in which she appeared to celebrate the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead Wednesday during a campus event in Utah.

The teacher, identified in Ridgeview Elementary School’s Facebook comments as Kelly Brock-Sánchez, posted under the name Kelly SteelMagnolia. Following news of Kirk’s death, she wrote, “This may not be the obituary. We were all hoping to wake up to, but this is a close second for me.”
Kirk, 31, founder of the conservative group Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University. Police quickly detained a suspect, though investigators have not disclosed a motive.

Brock-Sánchez had recently joined Ridgeview Elementary, supporting 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms. A July 24 post by the school on its official Facebook page introduced her as part of the teaching staff.
The teacher’s remarks triggered a wave of anger from parents and community members online, with many questioning whether her comments violated professional standards for educators.
Clay County District Schools has not yet issued a statement addressing the controversy or confirming whether disciplinary action will be taken.
