Four Indicted in Armed Robbery Spree Targeting Edgewater Spas, Prosecutor Says

Authorities allege four New York residents carried out or helped plan a pair of armed robberies at spas along River Road in Edgewater, leading to a 13-count indictment.

Edgewater, NJ – Four New York residents have been charged in connection with a pair of armed robberies that targeted spas in Edgewater last year, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests and indictments of John E. Cesse Rosario, 24, of the Bronx; Fraylan M. De La Rosa Perez, 26, of Brooklyn; Brayan Perez Abreu, 23, of the Bronx; and Esther Rosado, 24, of the Bronx following what authorities described as a lengthy joint investigation with the Edgewater Police Department.

Investigation linked suspects to two robberies

According to investigators, officers responded shortly after 3 a.m. on Sept. 25, 2025, to a spa on River Road after a victim reported being robbed at gunpoint by a masked suspect. Authorities said the victim’s Apple iPhone and Apple Watch were stolen during the robbery.

Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad determined multiple suspects were involved and identified a white Toyota Camry used during the crime. Investigators later linked the vehicle to John E. Cesse Rosario.

A second armed robbery occurred on Oct. 5, 2025, at another spa on River Road. Prosecutors said victims were again robbed at gunpoint of their cellphones and other belongings, and detectives identified a silver Volkswagen Jetta allegedly used by the suspects, which was also linked to Rosario.

Multiple arrests followed lengthy investigation

Rosario was first charged in October 2025 and was arrested days later in the Bronx with assistance from the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the New York City Police Department.

As the investigation continued, detectives identified De La Rosa Perez and Perez Abreu as additional suspects in the first robbery. Both were arrested in separate operations with assistance from federal agents and the NYPD before being extradited to New Jersey.

Prosecutors later charged Rosario and De La Rosa Perez in connection with the second robbery and identified Rosado as an alleged participant who helped plan the Oct. 5 robbery. Authorities said initial efforts to locate Rosado were unsuccessful.

A Bergen County grand jury later returned a 13-count indictment charging the defendants with offenses that include first-degree armed robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and aggravated assault.

The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
