A juvenile girl died Tuesday afternoon after falling from her bicycle into the path of a dump truck on Daniels Road, according to Howard County police.
Ellicott City, MD – A juvenile bicyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon after she fell from her bicycle into the path of a dump truck on Daniels Road in Ellicott City, according to the Howard County Police Department.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 1:55 p.m. in the 2000 block of Daniels Road. Police said the juvenile female was riding her bicycle in the roadway when she fell into the path of a 2004 Sterling LT9500 dump truck.
Driver remained at the scene
Investigators said the truck struck the juvenile after she fell from the bicycle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured and remained at the scene while officers conducted their investigation.
Investigation continues
Howard County police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
Daniels Road remained closed following the collision as investigators processed the scene.
