FOREST PARK, Ill. — Four people were shot and killed early Monday morning on a Blue Line train in the western suburb of Forest Park. The tragic incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. as the train was in motion.

Forest Park police responded to the scene at the Forest Park Blue Line station located at 711 Desplaines Avenue, where they found four passengers shot inside a rail car. Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where they later succumbed to their injuries.

“It’s a horrible situation, it’s definitely something that you don’t want to wake up to,” said Forest Park Deputy Police Chief Christopher Chin during a press conference outside the station. “Everyone’s supposed to be enjoying their time off… it’s horrible.”

Police reported finding multiple shell casings on the train, though details about the circumstances of the shooting remain unclear. Authorities have not yet identified any witnesses, and no one reported the incident as it was happening, according to police radio communications from early Monday morning.

As the investigation continues, police are working to gather more information about the shooter and the events leading up to the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact Forest Park Police.
