Chicken run turns into $1 million lottery win at Maryland Royal Farms
FOREST HILL, MD — A routine stop for fried chicken turned into a life-changing moment for a Maryland Lottery player who won $1 million on a scratch-off ticket.
The longtime player, who has been playing for more than 30 years, purchased the winning ticket at a Royal Farms on Rock Spring Road in Forest Hill.
After buying two 100X the Cash tickets and winning $50, he used the winnings to purchase more tickets — repeating the process before finally landing the $1 million top prize.
Lottery officials said the winner initially believed the prize was significantly smaller before realizing it was a seven-figure jackpot.
The winner plans to use the money to pay off his mortgage and set aside funds for his children.
The Royal Farms store will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
