Friend Suspects Foul Play in Death of North Carolina Mother Found in Woods

September 3, 2024

BOLIVIA, N.C. — A close friend of Alba Jo Doreen Wade, a 32-year-old mother of four and exotic French bulldog breeder, suspects foul play in her mysterious death after Wade was found deceased in a wooded area in mid-July.

Despite an ongoing investigation by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, no arrests have been made, and the cause of Wade’s death has not been officially confirmed.

Wade was reported missing before being discovered on the evening of July 16, 2024, in a wooded area off Colonial Landing in Bolivia. A massive search effort was launched, involving more than a dozen entities, including multiple fire departments and sheriff’s offices. Helicopters and four-wheelers were used to scour the area where Wade’s body was ultimately found.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has remained tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding Wade’s death, only stating that the investigation is “open” and “ongoing.” Authorities have not indicated whether they believe Wade was killed, but they have reassured the public that there is “no danger.”

Anastacia, a hairstylist and close friend of Wade’s, expressed her concerns in an interview with WECT, revealing that she and Wade had planned to meet on July 15, the day before Wade’s body was discovered. “Somebody knows what happened,” Anastacia said, adding that she and Wade’s family are anxiously awaiting autopsy results and any potential leads in the case.

The lack of answers has left friends and family members with a lingering sense of unease as they continue to seek justice for Wade. The investigation remains active, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
