Gaithersburg, MD – A 30-year-old Germantown man has been charged after police say he approached a 10-year-old child inside a Silver Spring arcade and committed an assault that has now prompted investigators to search for possible additional victims.
The Montgomery County Police said the incident occurred Wednesday at approximately 10 p.m. inside Dave and Buster’s, located in the 8600 block of Colesville Road. According to investigators, the child was in the arcade area when an adult male approached and removed the child’s socks and shoes before leaving the scene.
Detectives with the department’s 3rd District Patrol Investigative Unit identified the suspect as Christopher Michael Simpson, 30, of Germantown. Authorities said Simpson was later charged in connection with the incident following investigative efforts.
Police obtained an arrest warrant charging Simpson with second-degree assault and sexual assault-related offenses. Details regarding his custody status were not immediately released.
