Galloway Police Reel In Families for Annual Cops N’ Bobbers Fishing Derby

Dozens of children spent the day fishing alongside police officers at Patriot Lake, with some young anglers catching more than 30 fish during the annual community event.

Galloway Township, NJ – The Galloway Township Police Department celebrated another successful Cops N’ Bobbers fishing derby after families gathered at Patriot Lake for a day of fishing, prizes, and community engagement.

The event, held Sunday, June 28, was supported by the Galloway Township Police Foundation, Galloway Township EMS, and the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife.

Police said children had a productive day on the water, with several youngsters catching more than 30 fish. One participant reeled in an impressive 50 fish during the event.

According to organizers, anglers caught a variety of species, including sunfish, catfish, bass, and even a rainbow trout.

Community partners help make event possible

The department credited several local businesses and organizations for helping make the event a success.

Bass Pro Shops donated 20 fishing rod and reel combinations, allowing several children to receive their first fishing equipment and experience catching their first fish. Chestnut Neck Boat Yard supplied bait, Hero Outfitters donated a prize basket, and 279 Social Food Truck provided food for attendees.

Police thanked the volunteers, sponsors, and participating families and said they are already looking forward to hosting next year’s Cops N’ Bobbers fishing derby.
