Gas station robbery spirals into violent street brawl in Boston, teen girls arrested

Juvenile girls accused of brutal wallet theft outside Boston gas station

EAST BOSTON, MA — Two teenage girls were arrested after police said a wallet theft outside an East Boston gas station escalated into a violent attack that left a woman kicked to the ground while trying to recover her belongings.

Boston police responded Thursday, May 7, at about 8:54 p.m. to the area of 5 Falcon Street for reports involving a person with a knife.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a visibly shaken female victim who said she had parked at the Mobil gas station and entered the convenience store.

Inside, the woman encountered a group of about five juvenile girls arguing with a store employee, according to police.

Investigators said the group suddenly turned their attention toward the victim and one of the girls grabbed her wallet before the group fled on foot.

The victim chased the suspects and caught up with them near 425 Border Street.

Police said a struggle then broke out over the wallet, during which one suspect shoved the victim to the ground and repeatedly kicked her.

The victim managed to recover her wallet, but authorities said cash was missing from inside.

Responding officers later obtained images of the suspects and were directed to an apartment on the second floor of a nearby building.

Police said officers initially encountered an adult woman and a juvenile boy who claimed they were alone inside the apartment.

After receiving permission to search the residence, officers allegedly discovered six additional juveniles inside.

Authorities identified one girl as the suspect accused of stealing the wallet and another as the suspect accused of assaulting the victim.

Police said one suspect surrendered peacefully while the second allegedly kicked, screamed and violently resisted arrest, causing a disturbance throughout the apartment building.

A 14-year-old girl from Mattapan was charged with unarmed robbery.

A 16-year-old girl from Dorchester was charged with unarmed robbery, unarmed assault with intent to rob, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Both juveniles are expected to be arraigned in Chelsea Juvenile Court.
