Armed carjacker targets driver in Northeast DC before fleeing in stolen Honda
NORTHEAST DC — Police are searching for an armed suspect after a carjacking unfolded overnight along Eastern Avenue in Northeast DC, according to a Metropolitan Police Department crime alert.
MPD units responded shortly after midnight Thursday to the 500 block of Eastern Avenue Northeast for reports of a carjacking.
Authorities said the suspect was described as a Black male wearing a black jacket, black pants and a black ski mask while armed with a silver handgun.
Police said the suspect fled the scene in a gray Honda Accord bearing Maryland temporary tag T2634847.
Investigators said the stolen vehicle was last seen traveling on Eastern Avenue toward Kenilworth Avenue Northeast.
No injuries were immediately reported.
MPD advised the public not to approach the suspect and to immediately call 911 with any sightings or information.
