Discarded lottery ticket leads Ohio man to shocking $50K jackpot
EUCLID, OH — An Ohio man who picked up a discarded lottery ticket off the ground decided to replay the numbers weeks later and suddenly found himself holding a $50K winning ticket.
The Euclid resident told Ohio Lottery officials he rarely plays lottery games and had only purchased tickets a few times before the unusual winning streak began.
One day, he found a Pick 5 ticket lying on the ground and decided to try the numbers printed on it.
The first attempt did not produce a win, but he kept the ticket inside his glove compartment.
On April 28, while feeling lucky with friends from work, the man decided to replay the same numbers.
He asked a lottery clerk to issue another ticket using the combination 7-3-4-2-1.
That night, the exact numbers were drawn during the evening Pick 5 drawing.
The man won $50,000 on a $1 straight bet.
Ohio Lottery officials said the odds of matching all five Pick 5 numbers in exact order are 1 in 100,000.
Pick 5 drawings are held daily at 12:29 p.m. and 7:29 p.m.
