DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA – The discovery of a man’s body in a local reservoir has led to three murder arrests, including the victim’s girlfriend, as investigators continue to piece together what happened in the hours before his death. The case unfolded over several weeks, beginning with the recovery of human remains and culminating in multiple charges tied to what authorities describe as a coordinated effort surrounding the killing.
The remains of Jamal Parker, 37, were found on May 15 in Dog River Reservoir. It took approximately one month for officials to identify the body. On June 16, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of Brittany Baker, 43, and Mario Barber, 46, both charged with murder in connection with Parker’s death. Nearly a month later, authorities confirmed a third arrest: 35-year-old Ambria Boyd, identified as Parker’s girlfriend.
Arrests follow weeks of investigation
Boyd faces charges of murder, making false statements, and obstructing or hindering law enforcement. According to warrants reviewed in the case, investigators allege Boyd initially approached law enforcement claiming she had information about Parker’s killer.
Authorities said Boyd reported receiving information from an “unknown caller,” including the name and address of a supposed suspect. Investigators later determined that information was false. According to the warrants, Boyd admitted she knew the actual suspect and had been with Parker and that individual just hours before investigators believe the killing occurred.
Investigators also allege Boyd failed to disclose that she had been living with the suspect, a detail they say hindered the investigation. In a separate warrant tied to the murder charge, Boyd is described as a “party to a crime” that resulted in Parker’s death.
Limited details on motive and relationships
Officials have not released the name of what they describe as the primary suspect in Parker’s killing, nor have they detailed the nature of Parker’s relationship with Baker and Barber. The circumstances surrounding how Parker died and how his body ended up in the reservoir have also not been publicly disclosed.
All three suspects—Boyd, Baker, and Barber—are currently being held at the Douglas County Jail without bond. Court dates for the defendants have not yet been announced.
