Full episode is a follow up to the original show filmed in March 2020, literally days before Covid closed everything down

Ginger Monkey Gastropub Featured on Food Network's Restaurant Impossible Revisit Show on Thursday, March 31Chandler, AZ  (-)  When Restaurant Impossible filmed the original episode featuring Ginger Monkey in March 2020, the shows’ producers and show’s host Robert Irvin knew that the restaurant’s turnaround was going to be challenging.  The name of the show was called: Ginger Monkey Is Going Under.

And that was before Covid was even a thing.

Literally days after the show completed the filming, all restaurants were shut down in Arizona due to Covid.  The show’s airdate got pushed back to October 2020 while some Covid restrictions were still in place.

Fast forward two years later, Ginger Monkey has not only survived Covid by serving food out of their food truck, selling hard-to-find grocery items and delivering 250-plus meals weekly to the homeless, but the restaurant has taken off with a new menu, additional renovations and with record sales the past year.

Last year, owner Jackson Armstrong also acquired another Chandler restaurant, BLD, and is currently expanding its food truck business with another food trailer.

Restaurant Impossible has filmed a revisited show only 19 times out of the more than 250 episodes covering 20 years. Ginger Monkey will be its 20th revisit show.

The original show also featured a Restaurant Impossible first, a marriage proposal when Armstrong proposed to girlfriend Monique Hughes who had worked with Armstrong since Ginger Monkey opened in 2016.

This revisit episode is called Engagement Impossible. Armstrong and Hughes are set to be married in Chandler at the end of April.  The wedding officiant is no other than Robert Irvin himself.

According to the shows’ producers, part of the reason Ginger Monkey was selected to be on the show was due to the restaurant constantly giving back to the community even while profits were not there.

In keeping with that core principle of giving back, BLD and Ginger Monkey is hosting a fundraiser for a long-time BLD team member who is battling cancer.  All donations made March 28-31 at either restaurant will be matched dollar for dollar by Armstrong.
