QUEENS, N.Y. – Police are searching for two suspects after a confrontation inside a Queens apartment building escalated into an assault and gunfire Friday night, according to the NYPD.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:28 p.m. Friday near Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 86th Street. A 28-year-old man was inside his apartment building when an unidentified man and woman approached him, NYPD Crime Stoppers said.
Police said the pair became involved in a verbal dispute with the victim before repeatedly punching him. During the confrontation, the male suspect allegedly displayed a firearm and fired one round, striking a wall.

Verbal Dispute Turns Violent in Rockaway Beach
Investigators said the encounter began with an argument inside the victim’s apartment building in the vicinity of Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 86th Street.
“The individuals engaged the victim in a verbal dispute before punching him multiple times,” NYPD Crime Stoppers said in its wanted alert.
The confrontation then escalated when the unidentified male allegedly pulled out a gun.
Police said the man discharged one round, which struck a wall. The NYPD notice did not report anyone being struck by the gunfire.
The Crime Stoppers alert also did not provide information about the victim’s condition or indicate whether he required medical treatment following the assault.
NYPD Searches for Man and Woman After Assault
Police are seeking both individuals in connection with the Friday night attack.
The NYPD classified the incident as an assault and issued a public appeal for information Saturday as investigators worked to identify the suspects.
No arrests were announced in the Crime Stoppers notice, and police did not provide additional information about what led to the initial verbal dispute.
