CHICAGO, IL – A man with a lengthy violent criminal record was taken into custody after a high-risk ICE operation in Chicago.
ICE officers intervened as the subject attempted to climb over a third-floor balcony during the encounter.
The arrest followed a series of attempts by the subject to flee in vehicles and on foot during separate operations conducted by ICE.

Garcia, 31, was identified by ICE as a Mexican national who entered the country without legal status and whose prior DACA application was denied in 2019.
His criminal history includes convictions for felony strangulation, domestic battery, disorderly conduct, battery causing bodily injury, and aggravated battery against a handicapped or pregnant person, with an additional pending charge related to unlawful firearm use.
On Oct. 8, ICE officers attempted to arrest Garcia during a vehicle stop, but he fled after ramming a government vehicle and driving at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, prompting air support from Customs and Border Protection.
Garcia was later observed on Nov. 5 leaving his apartment and attempting to flee again, striking ICE vehicles before abandoning his car and running back into the building.
According to ICE, Garcia barricaded himself inside his apartment after the second attempted escape, leading officers to secure the area and obtain authorization to breach the unit.
Upon entry, officers reported that Garcia attempted to climb onto the third-floor balcony, where they intervened to prevent him from falling during the struggle.
He continued resisting while being taken into custody, striking officers before being subdued and handcuffed.
Two officers were injured during the incident and were treated by a tactical medic and at an urgent care facility.
Garcia was transported to the Northbrook Police Department for medical evaluation before being placed in ICE custody.
He remains detained pending immigration proceedings.
