FAIRFAX, Va. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Hyrum Baquedano-Rodriguez, a 26-year-old Honduran national, on May 2 in Fairfax after the Fairfax County Commonwealth’s attorney dismissed criminal charges against him for abduction with intent to defile and burglary with intent to murder or rape.
Baquedano-Rodriguez, who entered the U.S. illegally near Yuma, Arizona, in 2018, has a lengthy criminal history in Virginia. Despite multiple convictions and a prior removal order issued by an immigration judge in June 2024, he remained in the country. ICE officials say he poses a significant threat to public safety.
“Though the prosecutor saw fit to drop his most recent charges, Hyrum Baquedano-Rodriguez has been convicted of numerous crimes in Virginia and represents a calamitous hazard to our Virginia residents,” said ICE Washington, D.C. Field Office Director Russell Hott.
Since 2021, Baquedano-Rodriguez has been arrested and convicted for a range of offenses including indecent exposure, petit larceny, disorderly conduct, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In total, he has received several prison sentences and court-ordered restitution.
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin praised the arrest, highlighting the importance of law enforcement cooperation in ensuring public safety. “Protecting Virginians has been a top priority of our administration since day one,” Youngkin stated.

Baquedano-Rodriguez was initially apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol in 2018 and released on bond by an immigration judge in early 2019. His most recent charges—abduction and burglary with intent to commit violent crimes—were dismissed earlier on May 2, leading to his immediate arrest by ICE later that day.
ICE officials emphasized their continued focus on detaining and removing individuals who pose threats to public safety. Baquedano-Rodriguez is currently being held in federal custody under a warrant of removal.
