In honor of police, mayor has blue line painted at township sports complex

Last weekend, while the Jackson Township Police were away, Mayor Michael Reina and the Department of Public Works left them a surprise on West Veterans Highway and within the township’s Justice Complex.

As many of the town’s officers were celebrating at the annual PBA 168 pig roast in Pine Park in Lakewood, Reina had a blue line painted for the officers. The line goes from just west of the West Veterans Highway and Don Connor Boulevard intersection to the entrance of the Justice Complex. Inside the complex the line runs from the entrance to Chief Showell Drive.

“The Jackson Police Department would like to extend a Big THANK YOU to Mayor Mike Reina, in addition to a very dedicated Jackson DPW Employee who wishes to be unnamed as well as several members of VFC 55 who all assisted in striping the roadways in the Justice Complex and surrounding roads there in,” the Department said in a release. “All four of Jacksons Volunteer Fire Companies as well as Jackson First Aid pitched in and purchased the material needed for the blue line as a strong show of support for our P.D. .We truly are a lucky department to have such support from our government, our fellow Jackson employees and our Brothers and Sisters in Red!”

“This has been in the works for months and we were just waiting for the right time to do it,” Reina said. “It’s our way of showing our appreciation and respect to the township’s police officers.”
