Jackson Township, NJ — A township building inspector died Thursday afternoon after his SUV veered off a local roadway and struck a tree, prompting an emergency response where CPR was already underway before police arrived.
Ronald Miller, identified by officials as a Jackson Township plumbing inspector, was the sole occupant of the vehicle when it crashed around 1:55 p.m. on South Cooksbridge Road near Westlake Boulevard. He was transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, where he was pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts.
The cause of the crash appears to be related to a possible medical emergency.
Jackson Township police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a tree, with dispatchers advising that CPR was already in progress at the scene.
No additional vehicles were involved, and officials have not released further details about what led to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Kuhn said Miller served as a plumbing inspector in the township’s building department and was known for his professionalism and compassion.
