Jackson Zoning Board to Fill Vacant Seats

June 19, 2025

JACKSON, NJ – The Jackson Zoning Board has multiple vacancies that need to be filled this month. The zoning board, formally known as the Zoning Board of Adjustments reviews and holds public hearings for non-conforming building applications in town.

When builders wish to build a structure that does not conform to existing zoning laws, they must submit their application to the zoning board, who will then preside over public testimony and decide whether or not the application is approved to proceed.

In New Jersey, a Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) is a municipal board that reviews and decides on applications for variances from zoning ordinances, as well as appeals of decisions made by zoning officials. Essentially, it provides a mechanism for property owners to seek relief from the strict application of zoning rules when strict compliance would cause undue hardship or when a proposed use is not specifically permitted.

The zoning board typically meets two times per month on the first and third Thursday of each month at 7pm at town hall.

To apply, fill out a Citizen Leadership Form on the Jackson Township website, here.
