JACKSON, N.J. — A deep-gray-coated pup named Rayna has been quietly waiting for a forever home at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility after being surrendered by her owner along with two other dogs.

At approximately 3½ years old, Rayna has passed all behavioral assessments and is described by staff as calm, affectionate, and a joy to walk on leash. Despite once living with other dogs, she is recommended to be the only dog in her new home. Shelter staff say she may tolerate cats with a slow introduction and would do best in a household with older children.

“She is really a pleasure to hang out with,” volunteers shared after spending extended time with her this week. Rayna, though well-behaved and ready for adoption, has been overlooked for some time.

Rayna is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and available for immediate adoption.

Rescue or adoption sought for overlooked shelter favorite

Rayna is currently housed at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, located at 615 Freemont Avenue in Jackson. The shelter is open seven days a week from 1 to 4 p.m., but will be closed Friday in observance of the holiday. Approved 501(c)(3) rescues can also inquire about transfer.
