BLUE JERSEY-New Jersey Democrats seem to be losing control…and their minds.
This week several high-level Democrats are under fire over comments made publicly regarding race, religion and police officers. Whether or not the out-of-control comments were knee-jerk spams provoked by the impending confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh on Sunday or if it’s just the party’s true colors coming out is not clear.
Pastor Claims Bob Menendez Takes Blacks for Granted
First, a leading African-American pastor in New Jersey claimed corrupted Senator Bob Menendez takes the black community for granted after a not-so-friendly phone call from a Menendez staffer.
According to the Star-Ledger, Bishop Jethro James, leader of an 86-member black pastors’ association, is upset the Menendez camp seems to assume they have the black vote wrapped up.
“The Democrats have been taking the African-American vote for granted for too long,” he said in his office at Paradise Baptist Church in Newark. “It’s an insult. Some folks in the two-party system think this is like a political plantation: ‘You do what we say.’ We are long past that.”
James claims T. Missy Balmir, a senior advisor for Menendez confronted him over his choice to have Republican Bob Hugin speak before his congregation. The gaffe by the Dominican Don could have consequences on election day. Bishop James is an influential and well-respected community leader in the city of Newark.
Murphy Aide Calls Christians “Assholes”
Naomi Velasquez, an aide to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, according to a report on Save Jersey. According to editor Matt Rooney, “Ms. Velazquez, formally an employee of the Jersey City Board of Education, is now an aide to Governor Phil Murphy who is earning $60,000 annually. She’s also a founding member of the executive board for LUPE PAC, a well-known organization in N.J. politics which devotes its energies to electing progressive Latinas.”
In a Facebook posting, Velasquez made bigotted comments against Christians and Republicans saying, “Except for this administration when the leaders are all evangelical assholes in both places. Molesters, liars, drunks, racists, heartless, bigots.”
Governor Murphy responded to Velasquez remarks, but instead blamed President Donald Trump for his staffers’ comments, according to Politico New Jersey.
While he said such comments are not appropriate, he appeared to blame Trump for creating an environment in which people are fired up, Politico reported.
“Sadly, because of our president, we are a very divided nation right now and we shouldn’t be. So that has informed an enormous amount of emotions on both sides of this,” Murphy said. “But I don’t think there’s any place for name calling and calling out whole categories of people. We can disagree without being disagreeable.”
Pressed about how he would address the issue, he declined to comment further.
“First I’m hearing it, so bear with me,” Murphy said about the comments. “When I digest it, we’ll figure out what we’re going to do.”
RJW Barnabas Exec, Former Corzine Appointee Calls Fairlawn Police Officers Black Baby Killers.
Michellene Davis, a former Corzine administration Democrat who now works as an executive vice president and chief corporate affairs officer for RWJ Barnabas responded to a story about the Fairlawn Police Department hiring new officers.
“Who is going to train them not to shoot black children first?!?” she said.
Later, Davis issued an apology, claiming her Facebook account was hacked into.
“I want to publicly apologize for an extremely insensitive and offensive comment posted on facebook,” she wrote. “My concern for the safety of schoolchildren and gun violence led me to react to a headline without thinking. Having a late sister and other family in law enforcement I deeply respect the law enforcement community and appreciate their service and admire their sacrifice.”
“To all law enforcement families, the community, and to my employer, RWJBH I offer a sincere apology,” she said, according to the Star Ledger.
White woman, Democrat calls black Hugin Supporter, “Shine Boy”
If we were in the 1950’s this comment may not have had much mention, but after three generations of advances in civil rights for African Americans, it’s quite appalling. “Pasty white”, a term liberals often use for those old Republican men in suits, and former Democrat Councilwoman Kathleen Murphy of Fairlawn said this to Demetrius M. Terry after the millennial progressive Democrat publicly endorse former U.S. Marine Corps officer Bob Hugin over Bob Menendez for Senate.
Bergen County Democratic Chairman Louis Stellato said the comment was “Unnacceptable”. New Jersey Globe editor David Wildstein reported the story.
These latest stories make Cory Booker almost sound like the sane one in the party.
