Jimmy John’s robbery in Woodbridge ends in arrest after employees assaulted

WOODBRIDGE, VA – An 18-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly robbing a Jimmy John’s sandwich shop and assaulting two employees on Tuesday night, police said.

The Prince William County Police Department responded to the incident at 4168 Merchant Plaza around 9:10 p.m. Investigators say Jorge Villacruz Mendoza entered the store and began arguing with employees before going behind the counter and taking money.

During the robbery, Mendoza allegedly punched one employee and later hit another before individuals from a nearby business restrained him. Both employees sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Mendoza was arrested at the scene and charged with robbery, public intoxication, and assault and battery. He is being held without bond.
