Washington, DC — Judge Jeanine Pirro, now serving as the U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., gave an on-the-ground update Friday from the nation’s capital, reporting that President Trump’s law enforcement surge in Washington, DC has led to 719 arrests and 91 illegal firearms seized since the effort began — including 40 arrests and five guns recovered just the night before.
Pirro said the sweeping joint operation between federal agencies and the Metropolitan Police Department is beginning to make a noticeable difference in the city’s safety, claiming that residents feel more at ease dining out and walking the streets. She framed the effort as part of Trump’s broader promise to “clean up Washington.”
The initiative reportedly intensified following the brutal attempted carjacking of a former White House staffer, who was beaten in front of his female companion by a group of juveniles. According to Pirro, two 15-year-olds involved in that incident were released by family court under curfew restrictions — a move she criticized as weak and ineffective.
“This is why I want jurisdiction of these cases,” Pirro said, suggesting that as a former prosecutor, she believes stronger penalties are critical to curbing youth violence. “It’s time to prosecute these individuals so they understand the consequences.”
Pirro also reported a striking shift in the city’s homicide rate, stating that DC has now gone eight days without a single murder — a rare stretch in a city that has been grappling with consistent weekly homicides for months. As of Friday, the district has recorded 101 homicides for the year.
The surge in federal law enforcement presence is being carried out under what Trump allies have called a “zero-tolerance” approach, aimed at reversing a wave of violent crime that has plagued urban centers. Officials have not released the full list of agencies involved, but the arrests span weapons charges, carjacking attempts, and other violent offenses.

It brings us to a total of 719 arrests since the President decided that he was going to bring in all of our federal partners to work with the Metropolitan PD.And it brings us up to 91 guns that have been taken off the street with the additional five from last night. 91 guns that cannot be used now to shoot or harm other people. The best part about all this is when you talk to the people who live in DC, they’re comfortable going to dinner, they’re comfortable going for a stroll. The show of force by President Trump is making the quality of life better for the people in the district. I want to remind you that this pretty much began with the attack on that ex Extoge person who was working at the White House who was, as part of an attempted carjacking, pretty much beaten to a pulp. Well, I got news on that front as well.
The two 15-year-olds out of the eight or 10 that attacked the and his ex-dose staff and his woman friend that he was with have been released from the family court, and they have been told that they are now on a curfew. And this is exactly what I’m talking about.This is why I want jurisdiction of these cases because as a prosecutor, it’s time to prosecute these individuals so they get and understand the consequences of what they have done. In the meantime, we are now eight days without a homicide in the district. That is pretty stunning. We have 101 homicides so far this year. For the last five or six months, we’ve had at least one homicide a week, and we haven’t had any for the last eight days. Now, why do you think that is? Do you think that what President is doing is having a positive effect? Because I do.
