BOSTON, MA — A 15-year-old male was arrested in South Boston on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, facing serious firearm charges. The incident occurred around 10:22 AM when a police officer patrolling the area of Dorchester Avenue identified two males matching the descriptions of suspects involved in recent armed robberies.

Upon noticing the police officer, the individuals attempted to flee, initiating a foot pursuit. During the chase, one of the suspects was seen discarding a firearm inside Andrew Square T Station. The officer managed to apprehend one of the suspects on Boston Street and Ellery Street. The discarded firearm was later identified as a Smith and Wesson M&P, loaded with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.

The apprehended juvenile has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. He is set to be arraigned at Boston Juvenile Court.

The second juvenile involved in the incident was stopped near Dorchester Avenue and Alger Street and was released from the scene without charges. This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Boston Police Department to address gun-related crimes in the city.
