Keansburg man accused of Seaside Heights murder ordered held without bail

TOMS RIVER, NJ – A Superior Court judge has ordered that a Keansburg man charged with murder remain in custody pending trial in connection with the death of a Seaside Heights woman earlier this month.

Prosecutors said 41-year-old Emiliano Davila will stay detained at the Ocean County Jail following a ruling Friday by Judge Dina M. Vicari.

Davila is charged with murder and domestic violence aggravated assault by strangulation in the death of 32-year-old Mary O’Connor of Seaside Heights.

Key Points

  • Emiliano Davila, 41, of Keansburg, is charged with murder in the death of Mary O’Connor, 32.
  • O’Connor died on November 5 after sustaining injuries in a November 3 domestic incident.
  • A judge ordered Davila detained at the Ocean County Jail pending trial.

Victim died two days after assault

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the charges stem from an incident on November 3 in Seaside Heights, where O’Connor was found with serious injuries allegedly inflicted by Davila. She succumbed to those injuries two days later, on November 5.

Court orders continued detention

At a hearing on November 14, Judge Vicari granted the prosecution’s motion to detain Davila, determining he will remain held until trial. The hearing was handled by Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Meghan O’Neill.

Case remains under investigation

Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer emphasized that the charges are accusations at this stage and that Davila, like all defendants, is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The case remains under active investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
