Knife to throat robbery outside Dunkin’ leads to arrest

NEWARK, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested 31-year-old Cortez Crawford of Wilmington in connection with an armed robbery that occurred outside a Dunkin’ on Geoffrey Drive earlier this month.

The incident took place on July 5 at approximately 5:30 p.m. A 32-year-old woman was standing on the sidewalk outside the store when a man approached, held a knife to her throat, and demanded her purse. The victim complied, and the suspect fled on foot. She was not injured.

Investigators later identified Crawford as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. He was already in custody at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution when he was charged on July 15 with first-degree robbery and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

He remains held on a $40,000 cash bond.
