Loud late night car meet shut down in Secaucus after booming music complaints

SECAUCUS, NJ — A late-night car meet blasting loud music across Secaucus was broken up by police after residents reported the noise from more than half a mile away.

Officers were called around 12:19 a.m. to the area of Meadowlands Parkway and American Way, where complaints poured in about booming music.

Police tracked the sound to a parking lot on Century Way, where three vehicles had gathered — including one outfitted with large external speakers that authorities said was responsible for the disturbance.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a town ordinance violation, while the other two drivers were cited for motor vehicle offenses before being ordered to disperse.

Police said the gathering was an unauthorized car meet and warned that similar incidents will be met with strict enforcement.
