Two men hospitalized after separate shootings in Congress Heights and Trinidad
WASHINGTON, DC — Gunfire struck two DC neighborhoods just hours apart overnight, sending two men to hospitals with gunshot wounds while police searched Wednesday morning for suspects who fled the separate scenes in different vehicles.
The first shooting unfolded shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Savannah Street SE in Congress Heights, near the Savannah Heights Apartments.
Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was conscious and breathing before EMS transported him to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Police issued a lookout for a male who was last seen fleeing in a green-and-black vehicle.
No arrest had been announced as of Wednesday morning.
Hours later, another shooting was reported across the city in the Trinidad neighborhood.
Officers responded to the 1200 block of Meigs Place NE at approximately 2:45 a.m. Wednesday and found another man who had been shot.
EMS transported that victim to a hospital, where he was being treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Investigators issued a lookout for two people reportedly seen fleeing the Meigs Place shooting in a white SUV.
No arrests had been announced in that case either.
Police have not indicated that the two shootings are connected.
