Pasadena man died a day after colliding with teen driver’s car
PASADENA, MD — A Monday morning ride turned deadly for a 39-year-old Pasadena man after police say a 17-year-old driver turned a Mazda across his path on Fort Smallwood Road, leaving the scooter rider unable to avoid a collision that ultimately claimed his life.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. Monday at Fort Smallwood Road and Hilltop Road in Anne Arundel County.
Anne Arundel County Police said the 17-year-old was driving a Mazda 6 southbound on Fort Smallwood Road and attempted to turn left onto Hilltop Road.
At the same time, Robert Louis Tuite, 39, of Pasadena, was riding a Zhejiang motor scooter in the opposite direction.
Police said the Mazda turned in front of Tuite.
Tuite’s scooter then struck the side of the car, according to the preliminary investigation.
Emergency crews transported Tuite to a hospital following the collision.
He died from his injuries Tuesday, police said.
Police did not identify the 17-year-old driver or report that the teen suffered serious injuries.
No charges were announced in the information released about the crash.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation by Anne Arundel County Police.
