Little dog needs break as rescue searches for foster

Shelter pup Greg waits in New Jersey as rescue seeks foster home

JACKSON, NJ – A small dog named Greg is sitting in a New Jersey shelter waiting for a foster home, as a rescue group works to place the 5-year-old pup with someone willing to take things at his pace.

Twenty Paws Rescue said Greg, a 15-pound dog currently in a Jackson shelter, is in need of a foster or adoptive home. The organization described him as calm with specific behavioral needs that require a gradual adjustment period.

According to the rescue, Greg shows resource guarding with high-value treats and does not respond well to being picked up unexpectedly. Because of this, the group is recommending placement in an adult-only home.

A volunteer who recently met Greg reported a positive interaction, noting his overall demeanor during the visit.

The rescue is seeking a foster who can work with the organization to support the dog’s development and transition out of the shelter environment.

Twenty Paws Rescue is accepting applications from individuals located across several states, including New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Delaware, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maryland.

The effort comes as shelters and rescues continue to place dogs with specific needs into homes suited to their behavior and care requirements.
