COLUMBIA, PA — A Lancaster Township man accused of shooting a woman at a Columbia Borough intersection will have his case proceed to the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas. District Judge Miles Bixler ordered the charges against Skyler Matthew Barr held for court following an Aug. 17 preliminary hearing.
Barr, 30, is accused of firing a handgun 11 times near South Fourth and Cherry streets shortly before 3:30 a.m. July 4. One bullet struck the woman in the backside as she ran from him, according to police.
Gunfire Struck Home and Vehicles
Investigators recovered 11 shell casings from the intersection. Police said the gunfire also struck an occupied home in the 300 block of Cherry Street and three vehicles parked nearby.
Barr is charged with attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure. He also faces two felony firearms offenses and three counts of criminal mischief.
Police allege Barr did not have a license to carry a concealed weapon and was prohibited from possessing a firearm. The reason for that prohibition was not disclosed.
Suspect Remains in County Prison
Barr remains held in the Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail. Columbia Borough Police Cpl. Andrew Snyder filed the charges.
First Deputy Assistant District Attorney Cody Wade represented the Commonwealth during the preliminary hearing. The charges are accusations, and Barr is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
