SALISBURY, MD — A drug investigation in Salisbury led to the seizure of approximately 133 grams of suspected marijuana and the issuance of a criminal citation, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office. Davion Douglas was cited for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and released at the scene.
Members of the Joint Community Action Team reported seeing what appeared to be a drug transaction involving people inside a vehicle. Detectives and Road Patrol deputies then stopped the vehicle, which had four occupants.
K9 Alerts During Traffic Stop
A police K9 conducted a scan and alerted to the vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Detectives searched the vehicle and found a book bag containing 38 individually packaged bags of suspected raw marijuana.
The packages had a combined estimated weight of 133 grams. Investigators also found a cellphone belonging to Douglas inside the book bag, authorities said.
During a search of Douglas, detectives recovered $1,886 in cash. The suspected marijuana, money, cellphone and other items described as evidence were seized as part of the investigation.
Three Other Occupants Released
Douglas received a criminal citation for possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He was released after the investigation, along with the vehicle’s three other occupants.
The Joint Community Action Team conducted the investigation with assistance from Road Patrol deputies. Authorities said the case remains under investigation.
The charge is an accusation, and Douglas is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
