Etna, PA—Allegheny County Police Department announced the arrest of an Etna man in connection with a shots-fired incident that occurred overnight. The incident, reported by a female resident, prompted a swift response from local law enforcement.

At 11:59 pm on Monday, April 19, Etna Borough Police Department received a report of gunfire entering a residence on the 50 block of Cherry Street. Upon arrival, officers determined that a bullet had penetrated a wall, seemingly originating from the adjacent residence.

Etna Borough Police sought the assistance of the Allegheny County Police Department’s General Investigations Unit, which promptly launched an inquiry into the matter. During the investigation, officers encountered four adult males in the neighboring residence, where a spent shell casing was discovered in the kitchen.

Witness interviews revealed that Richard Kennelly, 48, had entered the residence and demanded money from one of the occupants, leading to a verbal altercation. Kennelly then allegedly resorted to physical violence and discharged a firearm, though no injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire.
