Man assaulted with glass mug in East Village, suspect flees

NEW YORK — A 22-year-old man was assaulted inside a building on East 7th Street early Saturday morning when an unidentified individual struck him in the head with a glass mug, police said.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. at 79 East 7th Street. Authorities said the suspect approached the victim and engaged in a brief conversation before attacking him.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot, heading westbound on East 7th Street. No arrests have been made.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mount Sinai Beth Israel by private means in stable condition.
