TONAWANDA, NY – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 20-year-old Nasir Jackson of Buffalo was arraigned on Sunday morning before Tonawanda Town Court Justice Daniel T. Cavarello on one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony).
The defendant is accused of recklessly engaging in conduct that caused the death of his girlfriend’s 7-month-old son while the child was under his care.
The infant was unresponsive when he was taken to Kenmore Mercy Hospital where he later died on Friday, December 10, 2021. The name of the victim is not being released at this time. Jackson is scheduled to return on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. for a felony hearing. He was remanded without bail.
If convicted of the charge, Jackson faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison. DA Flynn commends Captain William Krier, Detective Nicolas Salonikas, and Detective Mark Scranton of the Town of Tonawanda Police Department for their work in the investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ashley M. Morgan of the Homicide Unit.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
