Man Charged in Burglary and Carjacking at Gaithersburg Apartment Complex

Gaithersburg, Md.—The Montgomery County Police Department has arrested a man in connection with an attempted burglary and carjacking at a Gaithersburg apartment complex.

On June 9, just before 4:30 a.m., officers responded to the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard for a report of an attempted burglary. Detectives learned that 30-year-old Samuel Robert Bajard, along with others, allegedly tried to break into an apartment by kicking the front door and throwing a rock at the window.

The resident confronted the group and sprayed them with bear spray, causing them to flee in a vehicle. As Bajard and another suspect were leaving the complex, they allegedly assaulted the driver of a Toyota Camry and stole the car.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Bajard on June 13, charging him with attempted burglary and carjacking. Bajard was arrested in Silver Spring on June 20 and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
