Man charged with murder in CVS stabbing on Christmas Day

Lindenhurst, NY – A New York man is facing charges for the fatal stabbing of a CVS employee on Christmas Day. John Pilaccio, 43, is charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bond.

Edeedson “Eddy” Cine, 23, was working at the CVS store in Lindenhurst on the evening of December 25 when he was allegedly stabbed in the chest by Pilaccio. The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m., moments after Pilaccio entered the store and approached Cine behind the counter.

Witnesses identified Pilaccio as the assailant, and surveillance footage captured the encounter. The footage showed Pilaccio lunging at Cine with a knife before jumping over the counter and continuing the attack.

Cine was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The motive for the attack reportedly involved an attempted robbery, as Pilaccio allegedly confessed to being in debt and intending to rob the CVS.

Reports indicate that Pilaccio was apprehended at his home on Friday without incident. Court records reveal that Cine had filled in for a friend on the night of his death.

The next court appearance for Pilaccio is scheduled for December 31.
