Teenage suspect arrested in Christmas Day shooting death of girl 13

Pine Hills, FL – A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Emony Nicole Jackson on Christmas Day. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed he has been charged with manslaughter.

The incident unfolded at approximately 4:45 PM when deputies responded to the scene. The suspect approached law enforcement and claimed he was responsible for the shooting, insisting it was accidental.

Emony was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Information regarding the circumstances leading to the shooting has not been disclosed, nor has the relationship between the two teenagers been revealed.

Loved ones gathered for a candlelight vigil on Saturday, mourning the loss of the 13-year-old. Her aunt, Cynthia Williams, expressed doubts about the claim of an accident and emphasized the family’s desire for justice.

Tremaine Henderson, Emony’s cousin, recalled the difficulties she faced following the previous loss of her mother and younger sister in 2017. He mentioned Emony had aspirations for high school and hoped to become a cheerleader.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
