BRICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. – A 61-year-old man was found dead Sunday morning after being discovered pinned beneath a vehicle in a residential area of Brick Township, according to local police.
Officers responded to Lagoon Drive West shortly before noon after a caller reported an unconscious man under a car. When they arrived, they found Robert Grippe, of Brick Township, partially trapped beneath the passenger side of the vehicle. Paramedics from Hackensack University Medical Center and members of the Brick Township Fire Department assisted at the scene, but Grippe was pronounced dead where he was found.
Investigators believe Grippe may have been performing maintenance on the vehicle when it rolled toward him, resulting in fatal injuries. Authorities said there were no immediate signs of foul play.
The investigation remains ongoing under the direction of Officer Dave Thergesen of the Brick Township Police Traffic Safety Unit.
