Man killed in Allentown shooting police launch homicide investigation

Allentown, PA – The Allentown Police Department has launched a homicide investigation after an adult male died following a shooting Thursday night in the city’s 500 block of Washington Street.

According to police, officers were called to the area around 9:15 p.m. on January 22, 2026, for reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers provided emergency first aid until Allentown EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The incident is under active investigation in coordination with the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim pending family notification.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Allentown Police Department at 610-437-7721 or the police desk at 610-437-7753 (ext. 1). Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Tip411 app or the department’s website at allentownpa.gov/police.

Police said no further details would be released while the investigation remains ongoing.
