Man shot and killed on North Warnock Street in early morning Philadelphia attack

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 23-year-old man was shot and killed early Monday morning in North Philadelphia after police responded to reports of gunfire on North Warnock Street.

The shooting was reported around 1:40 a.m. in the 3500 block of North Warnock Street, according to investigators.

Officers from the 25th District arrived to find the victim, identified only as a Black male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Victim pronounced dead at hospital

Police said the man had been shot twice in the back and once in the chest. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:05 a.m.

Detectives have not determined a motive for the attack, and no arrests have been made. Officers remained at the scene for several hours collecting evidence and canvassing the area for witnesses or surveillance footage.

Homicide Unit leading investigation

The Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit is investigating and asking anyone with information to contact authorities. The department has not released the victim’s name pending family notification.

This latest fatal shooting adds to a series of overnight incidents under investigation across the city as police continue efforts to curb gun violence in high-crime neighborhoods.
