Philadelphia, PA – A 45-year-old man was shot multiple times early Saturday morning on a highway near Wyalusing Avenue, dying less than an hour after officers rushed him to the hospital, police said.
Officers from the 19th District responded at approximately 1:59 a.m. to reports of a shooting near 5400 Wyalusing Avenue. When they arrived, they located the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the neck and one gunshot wound to the back.
Police transported the man to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He was pronounced deceased at 2:33 a.m., authorities said.
No motive has been identified, and no arrests have been made in the case.
Homicide Unit leads investigation
The investigation has been assigned to the department’s Homicide Unit, which is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
Officials have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin. The scene remained under investigation as detectives canvassed the area for evidence and potential witnesses.
