Man snatches woman’s necklace, flashes gun during Bronx street robbery

BRONX, N.Y. — A woman was robbed of a necklace valued at $1,200 in broad daylight Wednesday in the Bronx by a man who flashed a gun when she tried to fight back, police said.

The incident occurred around 3:35 p.m. on June 11 at the intersection of East Tremont Avenue and Jerome Avenue. According to police, the 25-year-old victim was approached from behind by an unidentified individual who grabbed the necklace from her neck.

When the woman attempted to retrieve the jewelry, the suspect displayed a firearm and fled westbound on East Tremont Avenue. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion, approximately in his 40s. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, dark-colored pants, and black sneakers.

The NYPD is actively investigating and reviewing surveillance footage from the area. No arrests have been made.

The victim told officers the stolen necklace was worth about $1,200. Police did not disclose whether the firearm was discharged or whether any verbal exchange occurred during the incident.
