Man injured in Woodland Avenue shooting after sedan opens fire on parked car

PHILADELPHIA — A man was injured Wednesday night in a shooting in Southwest Philadelphia that left a vehicle riddled with bullets and blood on the sidewalk, police said.

At approximately 10:19 p.m. on June 18, officers from the 12th District responded to a report of a person with a gun in the 5200 block of Woodland Avenue. When they arrived, officers found a silver Nissan Maxima with multiple bullet holes along the driver’s side and blood near the front passenger door.

No victim was located at the scene.

Shortly after the discovery, police were informed that a male victim had arrived at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in a private vehicle. The man was being treated for a gunshot wound to the left hand and a graze wound to the head. His condition was not disclosed, but both injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

Gunfire erupted from maroon sedan

According to preliminary findings, the victim had been sitting in the front passenger seat of the Nissan when a maroon sedan pulled alongside and opened fire.

The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and no arrests have been made. Investigators have not identified any suspects.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Shooting Investigation Group is actively handling the case.
