Man sought after lewd act and phone theft on Bronx subway platform

BRONX, N.Y. — Police are searching for a man who allegedly performed a lewd act and destroyed a woman’s cellphone during a subway incident at the 149 Street–Grand Concourse station on Saturday afternoon.

According to NYPD reports, the incident occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. on April 26, 2025. A 23-year-old woman was aboard a northbound “4” train when an unidentified male individual performed a lewd act in front of her.

The situation escalated into a verbal confrontation, during which the suspect forcibly grabbed the victim’s cellphone and threw it onto the subway tracks before fleeing northbound along the platform.

The suspect exited the station to an unknown location. Police said the victim was not physically harmed during the encounter.

The investigation is ongoing, and the NYPD is working to identify and locate the suspect.
