Man threatens bar manager after being kicked out of North Jersey tavern

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Tensions flared outside a Hackettstown tavern early Sunday when a 20-year-old man allegedly threatened to kill a bar manager after being ejected from the establishment.

Police say the confrontation erupted around 1:39 a.m. outside Grand Avenue Tavern when the manager and a security guard were seen physically removing Daniel Y. Mogollon Czupza of Rockaway from the parking lot.

Officers reported that Mogollon Czupza resisted the men and shouted aggressively as they tried to restrain him.

Key Points

  • A Rockaway man was removed from Grand Avenue Tavern after causing a disturbance.
  • Police say the suspect threatened to kill the bar manager during the altercation.
  • He was charged with disorderly conduct and released pending a court appearance.

Bar dispute escalates into threats

Investigators determined the altercation began inside the tavern, where Mogollon Czupza had reportedly caused a disturbance that led the manager to demand he leave. When he refused, security attempted to escort him out, and a struggle ensued.

Once outside, police said Mogollon Czupza continued yelling and resisted attempts to calm him down. As officers tried to question him, he allegedly became combative again and advanced toward the manager, issuing a verbal threat to kill him.

Summons issued, case heads to court

Authorities charged Mogollon Czupza with disorderly conduct and released him on a summons. He is scheduled to appear in Hackettstown Municipal Court at a later date.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and the tavern resumed normal operations following the early morning disturbance.
